Just 30 miles over the mountains from Santa Barbara and into the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley, is the picturesque town of Solvang. ART GALLERIES
Besides the many fine art galleries in Solvang, the nearby town of Los Olivos will also satisfy your passion for art. Find the flagpole in the center of town, park your car and enjoy the many galleries you’ll find. You won’t get lost, it’s a small town.
BIKING
Many visitors to Solvang like to take a spin around the town by renting a “bicycle surrey”. You’ll get a good feel of the town and some exercise as well. For those who like the two-wheel variety of bicycle there are many easy, and some not so easy, rides you can take from Solvang. Check with the front desk for recommendations of our favorite rides.
CHUMASH CASINO
Feel lucky? There's cards, bingo and video gaming available, all with the warm hospitality, Chumash style. Also, check their schedule for big-name entertainment that may be appearing during your visit.

ELVERHOJ MUSEUM OF HISTORY AND ART
The former residence of one of Solvang’s most artistic families is now a community museum devoted to the Danish-American pioneer spirit, the history of Solvang and the colorful heritage of Denmark. The historic hand-crafted building includes a variety of exhibits ranging from Viking artifacts, prehistoric Danish tools and a collection of immigrant artifacts. There is also a wonderful fine art gallery and Museum store. The museum is located two blocks from the main shopping area of town and well worth the short walk.

GLIDER RIDES
Look to the skies on the weekends and you might catch a glimpse of one of the gliders being towed upward, then releasing, treating it’s riders to breathtaking views of the Santa Ynez Valley.

HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN MUSEUM
The Museum is located upstairs at the Book Loft. Here you can view the many talents of this well known writer of modern fairy tales. His books, paper cutouts, drawings and collages are on display at the museum.
HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN PARK
Located just past the Bethania Church, the park is an easy walk from the Inn. It features an entrance built and donated by the Danish Brotherhood in America. It’s a wonderful place to have a picnic or let the kids run off some of all that energy.
LAKE CACHUMA
If you like the outdoors you won’t want to miss one of the nature cruises at Lake Cachuma. There are year-round morning and afternoon departures. Depending on the time of year, you’ll have an up-close look of wildlife and birds, including hawks and eagles. Each tour is narrated by a park naturalist and reservations are required.

NOJOQUI FALLS PARK
A natural spring feeds the 160 foot water falls located inside the park. Its a slightly uphill 10 minute walk, to reach the falls. It’s a lovely walk anytime but if you really want to see a lot of water, visit the falls during the rainy season. The park is also a wonderful place for a picnic, BBQ, horseshoes or just enjoying being outdoors.
MISSION SANTA INÉS
The mission was founded in 1804 as the 19th California mission and was designated a national landmark in 1999. Interpretive displays feature the Chumash Indian culture and artifacts from this period of California history. A self-guided tour or a 30 minute taped tour are available.
MINIATURE HORSES
This is a terrific place to bring the kids. These lovable, waist-high (knee-high if you're tall) horses are bred and raised here. Often you will see the mares in the pasture with their foal. The Quicksilver Miniature Horse Ranch is free and open to the public during visiting hours

PCPA THEATERFEST
Solvang’s Festival Theater presents critically-acclaimed, live theater under the stars. The outdoor amphitheater is the stage for everything from tragedies and comedies to well-known musicals. Our "bed and theater" packages and tickets are often sold-out, so plan ahead.
RESTAURANTS
Solvang, and in fact all of the Santa Ynez Valley, is home to many fine restaurants. We will be happy to help you with selecting a restaurant and reservations upon your arrival. And remember that mid-day meals and afternoon coffee with pastries are all part of the Danish experience.
SANTA YNEZ VALLEY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The history of the Santa Ynez Valley is featured in the eight rooms of the museum. On display are artifacts from the Chumash Indian culture and the early ranching days of the area.

SHOPPING
With over 200 shops in Solvang there really is something for everyone to enjoy. In the shops you will find fine jewelry, clothing, collectables, imported glass and china, handmade lace and, of course, hundreds and hundreds of wonderful things imported from Denmark. Whether is a light snack, a treat for your sweet tooth or a full meal, you’ll find what you’re looking for in our bakeries, candy shops and restaurants. Hint: be sure to explore all of the side-streets where you’ll discover small courts and squares with interesting shops. They are all part of the charm of Solvang.
TROLLEY
A great way to see Solvang is to catch a ride on a 1915 replica street trolley pulled by Belgian draft horses. The horses are working most weekends and holidays and daily in the summer.
WINE TASTING
As you probably know you are in the heart of the Santa Barbara County wine country. There are more than 18,000 acres of vineyards and fifty-one wineries, so it’s important to plan your trip before heading out. Many wineries have picnic areas. If you are going to taste the wine, be smart and choose a designated driver, hire a limo or take a tour. Wine tasting maps are available at our front desk.
